Users
The Users page, labeled User Management in the console sidebar under Administration → Access Control, is where you add people to WitnessAI, assign their roles, and control who counts as a VIP. The role you give someone here decides what they can see and do across the product.
Concepts
- Effective role: the highest-privilege role a user inherits from their own assignment and from any groups they belong to. The Users table shows each person's effective role.
- VIP user: a user whose activity is restricted so that only roles with VIP visibility can see it.
Prerequisites
- The User Admin role or higher to add, invite, and manage users.
- The Super Admin role to grant the ability to view VIP data.
View the user list
The table lists everyone with access:
Column | What it shows |
Username | The user's username. |
Email | The user's email address. |
Groups | The groups the user belongs to. |
Effective Role | The highest-privilege role the user inherits. |
Actions | Row actions, including delete and pending-invitation controls. |
A user who has been invited but has not yet accepted shows an Invited marker. VIP users show a VIP marker.
Add and invite a user
- Select Add User.
- Enter the First Name, Last Name, Email, and Username.
- Select a Role for the user.
- Submit the form to send an invitation.
Manage a pending invitation
For a user who has been invited but has not accepted, use the row actions to:
- Resend invitation: send the invitation email again.
- Revoke invitation: cancel the pending invitation.
- Delete user: remove the user entirely. This action is available on every row, not only pending invitations.
VIP users
A VIP marker appears next to a VIP user's username in the table. Activity by VIP users is restricted so that only roles with VIP visibility can see it.
Note: Only the Super Admin role can grant the ability to view VIP data.
Verify
After inviting a user, an invitation confirmation appears and the user is listed in the Users table with an Invited marker next to their username.
VIP users are identified by the VIP marker next to their username in the table.
